Our 18-1, 17-1, 16-1, 15-1 earn # 1 seeds in their pools for Saturday and all four teams were in the top 6 seeds overall for the tournament. Also all four teams held serve on Saturday by going undefeated in pool play. Sunday proved to be another good day as the 18-1 team finished 4th overall and 3rd out of Georgia teams, 17-1 team finished T-5th overall and 2nd out of Georgia teams and Qualified for American Bid at USA Nationals, 16-1 team finished 4th overall and Qualified for USAV Nationals and 2nd out of Georgia teams, and 15-1 team finished T-5th overall and 3rd out of Georgia teams and Qualified for an American Bid at USA Nationals.
These four teams accomplished something that has never been done in our club and that is having 4teams finish in the top 8 of the region. Only our 15s from 2008 who finished 3rd and Qualified for USAV Nationals and our 16s in 2009 have finished in the top3 prior to this season. This shows marked improvement and our club taking another step forward on the court. We have 7 players in our club with scholarships for college next year and we have several players in the club at 17s and 16s with offers on the table to major DI programs.
My goal as the director when I took over was to get our club to the level where multiple teams in our club have a chance to qualify for nationals and finish in the top 5 of our region and also have numerous players at various age groups with offers and exposure to college coaches/programs from around the country. We have accomplished this goal and my next goal is to provide more organization and communication within the club to provide an excellent experience to go along with the accomplishments being made by the players and teams in our club.
I look forward to continuing our progress in the 2010-2011 season by seeing more players gain scholarships and exposure, more teams qualifying for nationals, more kids improving and bettering their performance both on and off the court, and taking our club to the next level both on and off the court.
Thanks to all our parents, players, coaches, and staff who have helped our club acheive our goals and thanks to those who will be inolved in the future and provide solutions for improvement in all areas. Good luck over the summer and in your high school and middle school seasons in the fall.
Brent Bridger

These leagues are geared towards the younger age bracket of about 8 to 11 (or somewhat close to this age). If you have any younger children or know any parents that want to get their kids involved in volleyball before the club years, this is a GREAT opportunity to establish their volleyball skills! The league meets once a week and starts off with an hour of instruction and ends with an application of the taught skills with some game play. Even though some of the leagues are starting within the next few days, it's NOT too late to sign up. You can even see about getting a discounted rate by emailing registration@tcavolleyball.com and just mention that you are signing up late but still want to get your kid(s) involved. Ladies thank you for a great year of volleyball. It has been our pleasure to watch you grow and develop throughout the year. You have come so far in such a short period of time. I know that I personally have not seen a team of individual volleyball players grow as much over the course of one season as you have. I have to search all of my years in athletics to think of a team that showed as much heart, growth and determination on a consistent basis that is comparable to what you ladies demonstrated this year. All of the supporters of the 18 Black are so proud of you for your accomplishments and the way you played.
This week at regionals was something that will not be forgotten. You guys played for each other, you all contributed, you exemplified what it means to play as a team. You did not complain about obstacles or anything that you could not control. You played with heart, determination, skill and great sportsmanship - something that was noted by many people at the GWCC.
You started the season at Winterfest in Nashville, Tn. playing against good competition with many new faces, a number of injuries and did not win a game - much less a match, although very frustrated you bounced back the next tournament to finish in 2nd place at the Icebreaker. You then continued to grow as you finished third at the Valentine's day bash before your semi final appearance at the Mava Open.
Next came the Crossroads Qualifier where you competed well against good teams before getting knocked into the Silver bracket in your Gold bracket challenge match by the eventual club tournament champion and finished 21st out of 130 teams. You grew from this experience by playing into the Gold bracket of the Mid East Qualifier before being knocked out by the eventual tournament runner up and placed 9th place overall.
You competed well in the Open division at Big South against some of this countries best talent but a bit out of sync could not get a signature win on day one to push you over the hump. You bounced back from two losses on day two that could have gone either way to play your best game of the season against a good NC Elite team and finish out the tournament in good fashion and your fourth place finish and opportunity to compete for bid to nationals at this years 2010 SRVA Regional Championship is a credit to you and a representation of just how far you have come since that opening tournament.
Ladies of the TCA Atlanta 18 Black we love you, support you and have truthfully enjoyed watching and being a part of your 2010 season!
It has been my personal pleasure to maintain this website, video you, work on your footage and create the highlights that mean so much to all of us who support you!
With much love and great appreciation,
Michael Reid

The 18 Black's day started very slowly. Battling adversity and injuries to key players the team played with determination and improved as the day wore on. With one tournament under its belt, the direction and mandate is clear. We are looking for great things from the 18 Black. Next up ICEBREAKER!
Today was such a special day. When we started the ground work towards this month's service project, we were excited to help the homeless of Atlanta. The more we read about "Sleep Well tonight" the more driven we became to make the project succeed. So many hours went into the prep work to make this a success.
Today, as we talked to the girls we saw the passion sparked within them to help those around us. We were deeply rewarded. The frigid temperature that we have been experiencing for over a week drove home the need for this project. Many of the girls understood how important today was, and we saw individuals come together as teams to make today a success.
It is easy to leave and spend the rest of your day to do "what you want, but thank you to each of the girls who stayed late for donating their time, gifts, and talents. You completed 36 Blankets and 36 notes!
